Statement and Purpose of Policy

The London Ethical Cleaning Company Limited (the Employer, we, our or us) recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods.

Sustainability

We will use environmentally friendly and sustainable cleaning products, whenever possible. 

We will encourage our customers to use sustainable products to minimise the impact on the environment.

Energy and Water Consumption

We will endeavour to conserve natural resources such as water and energy by using efficient cleaning methods and equipment, and by reducing waste in our operations.

 

We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible by;

Switching off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.

Adjusting heating with energy consumption in mind.

Taking energy consumption and efficiency of new products into account when purchasing.

We will minimise our water usage by implementing water efficient cleaning methods and equipment, and continually strive to reduce our overall water consumption to protect this precious resource.

Waste and Recycling

We are committed to reducing waste through recycling and reuse, ensuring responsible disposal of any waste materials.

We are continually seeking opportunities to minimise the amount of waste we produce in our operations.

We only use licensed and appropriate organisations to dispose of waste.

Paper Use

We will always seek to:

Minimise the use of paper in the office.

 

Reduce packaging as much as possible.

Seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products.

Reuse and recycle all paper where possible.

Transportation

We will strive to reduce our carbon footprint by using environmentally friendly modes of transportation for our operations and promote the use of travel alternatives such as email or telephone conferencing.

We will make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport or bicycles.

Favour green vehicles and maintain them rigorously to ensure ongoing efficiency.

Procurement Procedures

We will;

Evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase and favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible.

Evaluate if renting or sharing is an option before purchasing equipment.

Use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 impact.

Monitoring and Improvement

We will  always;

Involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance

Comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.

Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.

Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.

Increase employee awareness through training.

We believe that taking these actions is essential to reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future. By implementing this policy, we will be able to deliver high quality cleaning services while minimising our environmental impact.

This environmental policy and the practices and procedures that it outlines will be regularly reviewed by the Employer.

Employees should raise any concerns they have about the practices and procedures that this policy outlines with their managers and/or the company director.
